Trayvon Martin Shooting
March 25, 2012 - Tampa, FL, USA - [KATHLEEN FLYNN l Tampa Bay Times].TP_352003_FLYN_trayvon_1 (3/24/2012, Tampa).Zion Martin, 11, of Tampa, and his mother Latonya Campbell, middle, protest on Dale Mabry at MLK Jr Street in Tampa on March 24, 2012. ''Trayvon died, and I feel the same way because my dad died when I was three,'' Zion said. ''I know how that feeling feels to lose somebody.'' Latonya said it was important to bring Zion to the rally. She said the killer of his father was never brought to justice. ''We might not have had closure, but maybe we can get closure for another family.'' Real Talk: Real Answers, a local Facebook group, spearheaded the peaceful rally for the Justice for Tray movement. The group of about 105 members has asked their friends, families and the community to join them as they protest against the injustices of the Trayvon Martin case. ''It is important that our voices are heard and we take a stand for what is right,'' says Jean Vixamar, one of the rally organizers. The rally is a replica of the ''Million Hoodie March'' in NYC led by Rev. Al Sharpton. The public was welcome to attend and were asked to wear hoodies but it wasn't required. The group met at Al Lopez Park at 10:30am and proceeded to the corner of Dale Mabry and Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Blvd. [KATHLEEN FLYNN l Tampa Bay Times] (Credit Image: © Tampa Bay Times)
