Pope Benedict XVI visit Cuba

epa03162615 Pope Benedict XVI arrives to celebrate an open-air mass at the Revolution Square Jose Marti in Havana, Cuba, 28 March 2012. Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro was to meet 28 March with Pope Benedict XVI in Havana, news reports said. In an open letter published in Cuban media, Castro said he had 'decided to ask him [Benedict] for a few minutes of his very busy schedule when our chancellor Bruno Rodriguez told us he would appreciate this modest and straightforward contact.' On 28 March, the pontiff is to conclude a three-day visit to the communist island with an open-air Mass on the capital's Plaza de la Revolucion. At a service 27 March at the shrine to Our Lady of Charity, Cuba's patron saint, Benedict called for 'renewal' in the country and appeared to express support for political prisoners.
