(120404) -- DUJIANGYAN, April 4, 2012 (Xinhua) -- People perform during the ceremony to offer sacrifices to water at the Dujiang Dam, an ancient but still operating irrigation project, in southwest China's Sichuan Province, April 4, 2012. The world's oldest irrigation project was built in 256 B.C. by local governor Li Bing during the Warring States (475-221 B.C.). The ceremony is held every year at the Qingming Festival to pray for favourable weather and commemorate the contributions made by Li Bing. The Chinese traditional Qingming Festival falls either on April 4 or 5. (Xinhua/Chen Duo) (lfj)
