CHINA-HUBEI-ZIGUI-DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL (CN)

(120619) -- ZIGUI, June 19, 2012 (Xinhua) -- An old man puts realgar wine on a child's face, a tradition to dispel the unhealthy elements, in celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival in Zigui County, Yichang, central China's Hubei Province, June 19, 2012. The Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on the fifth day on the fifth month on the lunar calendar, is believed to be designed to commemorate the death of Qu Yuan, a patriot poet during the Warring State Period (475-221 BC). As the festival nears, villagers in Zigui County, hometown of Qu Yuan, have prepared various typical activities including eating Zongzi, holding dragon boat races for celebration.
