Ciñera miners face riot police in latest austerity protests
Ciera, Spain. 19th June 2012 -- Miners launch a rocket at the police on a hill. Spain's cash-strapped central government has slashed subsidies to the coal sector to 111 million euros (42 million) from 301 million euros in 2011. -- A group of 300 miners faced police in Ciera during a strike to protest against subsidy cuts that they say threaten tens of thousands of jobs.
