Ag Ghaly, one of the most prominent figures of a Tuareg rebellion in the 1990s, is accused of having links with Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and other Islam groups. -- Mali's Islamist rebel group Ansar Dine, which jointly controls the country's north, said it was not interested in proclaiming an independent state but only in the implementation of sharia.
