CHINA-ZHEJIANG-CHANGXING-EMBANKMENT FAILURE-FLOOD (CN)

(120810) -- CHANGXING, Aug. 10, 2012 (Xinhua) -- A villager uses a wooden basin as a float in the flooded Wushan Village of Heping Town in Changxing County, east China's Zhejiang Province, Aug. 10, 2012. An embankment failure occurred Thursday in Wushan village as a result of downpour-triggered internal soil erosion. The subsequent flood drowned 333 hectares of land and caused a blackout that affected 7,000 households. Some 2,300 residents have been evacuated. Zhejiang has been lashed by downpours after the Wednesday landfall of Typhoon Haikui. (Xinhua/Ju Huanzong) (lmm)
