(120829) -- LIUJIAXIA, Aug. 29, 2012 (Xinhua) -- People watch water gushing out from Liujiaxia Hydropower Station on the Yellow River during a flood peak adjustment operation, northwest China's Gansu Province, Aug. 28, 2012. Liujiaxia Dam, a major hydroelectric dam in Gansu Province, has been discharging flood waters for one month, after its water level crossed over the alarm levels as a result of heavy rains on the upstream region of the Yellow River. The dam is discharging water with an average flow of 2,000-2,500 cubic meters per second now, much fewer than 3,500 cubic meters per second at the beginning period of the flood peak adjustment.
