Nepal Plane Crash - British Tourists Among 19 Killed
Sept. 28, 2012 - Kathmandu, Nepal - Nepalese police officers stand around the wreckage of the SITA AIR airplane at the crash site. A plane carrying trekkers into the Everest region crashed just after takeoff on Friday morning in Nepal's capital, killing all 19 people on board. Victims are seven British, five Chinese and four Nepali. The twin-engine propeller plane belonging to domestic Sita Air crashed onto open ground near the Manohara River on the southwest edge of Katmandu. The morning weather was clear. Autumn is the peak tourism season in Nepal. In May 2012 15 people were killed when their plane crashed into a hill in Northern Nepal. (Credit Image: © Agron Dragaj)
