A gannet wing brakes as it prepares to land

Gannet Morus bassanus An adult, backlit by the morning sun, comes in to land in front of a shadowy cliff face. The gannet is the UK's largest sea bird and it will venture up to 400 miles on fishing trips. Gannets live in huge colonies like this one, usually on offshore islands and they hunt fish by diving vertically from up to 50m above the water and will dive as deep as 30m.
