Chinese hostesses for the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) pose for photos on Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China, 7 November 2012. As Beijing is busy preparing for the opening of the 18th Communist Party Congress to be held on Thursday (8 November 2012), the city is under such tight security measures that many netizens have begun to refer to it as Sparta (a homonym for the Congress). At the same time, the government is also busy promoting the Congress, the Party and excitement over the political event, which common citizens cannot witness nor participate in. The congress will name new leaders to run the worlds most populous country and second-largest economy for the next decade.
