FARC declares a unilateral ceasefire

epa03478130 Dutch member of the guerrilla Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), Tanja Nijmeijer, alias 'Alexandra' and 'Eileen', arrives at Havana's Convention Palace, Cuba, on 19 November 2012. Leftist rebels of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) announced 19 November 2012 a two-month unilateral ceasefire, during peace talks with the Colombian government in Havana. FARC spokesman Luciano Marin, known under the alias 'Ivan Marquez,' said the group will halt all military operations as of 20 November until January 20. FARC and the Colombian government launched the talks - which were formally opened in Oslo last month - to discuss rural development among other things, but no ceasefire had until now agreed upon. This round in negotiations is set to last about 10 days. EPA/STRINGER
