France - Horsemeat Scandal

A judicial inquiry has opened in France into how horsemeat and possibly donkey meat made its way into frozen food products labelled as beef. According to the French agricultural minister the whole meat supply chain will be put under surveillance. Last week it was revealed that Findus frozen beef lasagne in France, the UK and Sweden contained horse meat without proper declaration. Spanghero the French supplier of meat for Findus lasagne is ready to sue the Romanian supplier where the meat originated. The product has been taken off the supermarket shelves in France and Britain.
