Edible Insects on sale in a Northeastern Thai Market
Nakhon ratchasima, Thailand. 7th March 2013 -- Live crickets pictured here on sale at a market in Chompueang in northeastern Thailand. The insects are fried fresh for each customer together with kaffir lime leaves, and are a popular snack amongst Thais in the north of the country. -- Edible insects, usually varieties of so-called ground crickets are found on sale in most north-eastern Thai markets and are eaten as a crispy snack after being deep fried with kaffir lime leaves. The insects sell for around 6.00 per kilo.
