Study lead by Dr Ted Schuur of University of Florida to understand the mechanisms for respiration, uptake and release of CO2, Oxygen, water and nutrients in tundra near Mt McKinley/Denali National Park Alaska. Vegetation, temperature, season, elevation, snow cover affect rates of exchange of gases and nutrients. Nitrogen is a strong limiter of plant growth. Here the study is called Carbon in Permafrost Experimental Heating Research (CIPEHR), and they artificially heat tundra in plastic chambers
