Bamboo Basket Weaving in the Thai northeastern province of Yasothon
Yasothon, Thailand. 6th September 2013 -- A Thai woman makes handwoven bamboo baskets in a village in Yasothon, northeast Thailand. Once finished, these baskets used for steaming rice and are sold for around 35 baht (approximately US.00) a piece. -- Villagers in a small community in the northeast province of Yasothon have devoted themselves to the age-old production of handmade bamboo baskets, a type used daily for the steaming of the popular glutinous rice that forms the region's staple diet.
