Surin, Thailand. 6th September 2013 -- This 40-year-old elephant at Ban Tha Klang village recently starred in a television advertisement for Chang beer. A fee of some ,000 dollars was reportedly paid to the owners for use of this veteran pachyderm. -- Ban Tha Klang Elephant village forms part of an ancient Kui community that has raised elephants for hundreds of years. The Kui reject the employment of elephants in hard labour such as logging, which is more popular in the north of Thailand.
