Fuentegelmes, Spain. 18th November 2013 -- The eye of the Common Ostrich (Struthio camelus) measures almost 2 in (5 cm) in diameter, measured front to back, from the center of the cornea to the retina. It is five times bigger than the human eye and bigger than that of any land animal. -- The Common Ostrich (Struthio camelus) is either one or two species of large flightless birds native to Africa. It is the largest living species of bird and lays the largest eggs of any living bird.
