The Green River serial murders involved the death of what was alleged to be about fifty young, women who were killed between July of 1982 and March of 1984, around the Seattle area. Up through 1990, the police were still discovering remains. The victims were young women, and they were left out in the forest and scavenged, leaving only skeletons. The case has never been solved. However in 2002, Gary L. Ridgway, 53, a truck painter from Auburn, was charged with four counts of aggravated first degree murder in the case. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
