Original caption: 9/9/57-Rome, Italy: Following the example of Gary Cooper and Audrey Hepburn on the movie screen before them, a pair of spectators at what is called Europe's first drive-in theater engage in some smooching of their own. After the post-war success of blue jeans, pinball machines, jukeboxes, rock and roll, popcorn and the introduction of baseball to Italy, this drive-in movie theater near Rome is the latest step in the "Americanization" of Italian life. Soon they will be saying: "When in Rome, do as the Yankees do." So far, the only name the Italians have for the drive-ins is "Il Drahveen." For lovers, it's a regular bus stop. BPA2 #2735
