The walls of Fort McHenry in Baltimore, MD on September 20, 2002. The cannons, like the one on top of the wall at left, were used to defend the fort against a British invasion during the Battle of Baltimore on September 13, 1814. This battle inspired Francis Scott Key to write the "Star Spangled Banner" which has been adopted as the American National Anthem.
