Original caption: Annah Banaye Ntuli displays her imlingakobe: a special, long strand of beads draped from the head which means the Trail of Tears. Imlingakobe are started when a male child is born and worked on until his circumcision. Her other adornment includes idzilla, brass rings covering the neck, legs, and arms; izigholwani and ingholwani, thick grass rings covered with beads; iphotho, an everyday beaded apron and ingubo, the striped marriage blanket.
