A portrait of Chiang Kai-Shek, leader of the Kuomintang Party (i.e. Nationalist) Army of China, which fought both the Japanese and Mao Tse-Tung's Communist forces during World War II. Defeated by Mao's forces in 1949, Chiang and his Nationalists retreated to Taiwan, where he was set up as its President. Ca. 1940s.
