Russian Premier Josef Stalin, Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and President Harry Truman meet at Potsdam, Germany, in July 1945. They met to discuss the postwar treatment of Germany and the borders of former Nazi territories in Eastern Europe, as well as how to proceed in the war against Japan. The conference was characterized by tension and suspicion between the Big Three, especially regarding Stalin's intentions in the East.
