SEATO Treaty

The Southeast Asia Collective Defense Treaty, signed on September 8, 1954, created the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization with the purpose of defending Southeast Asia from communist expansionism. It was signed by France, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Phillipines, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The organization ended on June 30, 1977. Page 5 of 6.
