Slow Thermometer (Termometro Lento)

Slow Thermometer (Termometro Lento)

Invented by Galileo, this thermometer works on the principle that temperature affects buoyancy; the colder a liquid gets, the denser it gets, and the more weight it can support. The tube contains differently sized weights that float when the liquid is cold and sink when it is warm. The lowest of the floating weights indicates the room temperature.
