Original caption: Albert Anastasia, alleged high executioner of Murder, Inc., appears grim as he shows up at the Supreme Court Building, December 19th, to take the witness stand before the New York State Crime Commission. He was on the stand for 55 minutes, during which he refused to answer 70 questions put to him. Most of the queries dealt with waterfront crime and the murder of longshoreman Peter Panto, to which Anastasia was an eyewitness according to a 1941 statement by Albert Tannenbaum, reputed triggerman for Murder, Inc.
