Original caption: From the oldest inhabitant of the village of of Mithapur down to the very youngest, there is no fear of snakes, no matter what their size or death-dealing potential. In the arms of the village elder, a tiny lad is introduced to his first snake although youngsters are not taught to catch and handle the writhing reptiles until they are seven years old. Snake charming is the oldest and most honoered profession at Mithapur, 12 miles south of Delhi, which is the home of most os the itinerant snake charmers of India, Ceylon and Burma.
