Francis the Talking Mule Wearing Sunglasses

Original caption: 5/24/1951- Hollywood, CA- Francis, the famous talking mule of the screen is described as the most un-temperamental star in Hollywood today, but a fellow must bow to tradition. It is a tradition in Hollywood that stars rarely appear in public with unveiled eyes, and Francis had king-size sunglasses custom-built for him to prove he can go along with a gag. In his second starring vehicle, he plays himself, "Francis Goes to the Races". BPA2#1725.
