Original caption: Cassius Marcellus Clay, Kentucky's pugilistic poet, reads one of his literary offerings during a contest at the Bitter End, a Greenwich Village coffeehouse-nightclub. As usual, Mr. Clay emerged victorious from the session which featured seven poetry-writing contestants. The 21-year-old lad said the contest was a preparatory workout for his forthcoming heavyweight contenders battle with New York's Doug Jones in Madison Square Garden on March 13th.
