Original caption:New York: Tunnel Caravan. Elephants, part of a circus caravan walk through the Lincoln Tunnel towards Manhattan, May 17, after a 30-car train carrying the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus was stranded by the nationwide rails strike. Animals, performers and rigging were transferred to vans at South Kearny, New Jersey, and brought to New York City to replace another circus unit which had moved on to Boston.
