Original caption: Famous Old Structure Slipping. Commissioner Whalen and Chief Engineer Edward A. Byrnes of the Department of Plants and Structures of New York City, making an inspection of the famous old Brooklyn Bridge, the first suspension bridge over the East River and representing an epoch in the bridge-building era.
