Original caption: Making Artificial Limbs for the Soldiers of Canada, England and France. The Hanger Artificial Limb Factory, Washington, DC, the largest plant in America, at present supplying limbs for Canada, England and France. These orders are sent in 100 lots to the different government to be used in "Making over" the wounded soldiers. The Hanger Co. employs over 250 skilled workmen and have branch factories in several large cities. The main plant is in Washington. The senior member of the firm lost a leg in the Civil War, and made himself an artificial limb, thus the start of the present big factory, the largest of its kind.
