Red Cross Nurses Dining in Outdoor Cafe

Red Cross Nurses Dining in Outdoor Cafe

Original caption: Acting upon the suggestion of Mrs. Gustave Ador, the brilliant and ever active President of the International Red Cross, and Mme. Hoffmann, wife of one of the federal councils, Switzerland has lately added another humane work to her already tremendous field of charitable activities. Early last Summer, more than 200 hotels offered a gratuitous sojourn to more than 2,000 French, English, Belgian, Italian, German, and Austrian nurses from one to five weeks who have done such heroic work in the military hospitals since the outbreak of the war. This photograph shows the arrival of a group of French war nurses at Geneva railroad station where refreshments are served up to them under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross, whose President, Mr. Gustave Ador, is the gentleman seated in the foreground, to the left of the picture.
