Original caption: Metallic wood-boring beetle (Euchroma gigantea). This insect has an iridescent, metallic sheen on its exoskeleton and wing cases (elytra). Its unfurled wings (lower left and right) can also be seen. Native to South America, the insect's elytra are used to decorate the textiles of native people.
